S. F. Grit | May 2005
A book of photographs of the San Francisco graffiti scene from 2002-2005. 100 Photos by Kel Troughton documenting the beauty in the re-birth, art in the abandoned wasteland of San Francisco's old factories. All of the images were altered to show texture. The zine's cover is handmade with paint trips on a brown paper bag, and includes a darkroom 4X5 Black and White photo print of a dream piece.
_Although there is no text featured in the magazine, there is a handwritten inside cover that explains the concept for the zine."...Graffiti was nastier in S.F, It was the grittiest I had ever seen and it had so much original flavor. This small selection of images comes into light just as many of the places photgraphed become under surveillance or bulldozed, closing off many of San Francisco's current hall of fames. What started as an outsiders view of a subculture has now become an obsession of mine to document what we have while we have it. Dont sleep on your scene."
_The zine is now available through Paypal for 6 dollars including shipping, or at Expresh shows. Keltroughton@expresh.com
